Course Procedures

Safe and Sober Program

Once you have completed our Safe and Sober program, you will receive a 3-Hour Safe and Sober Program Certificate. This certificate is necessary for you to receive a Maryland driver’s license. It also applies to people who hold a valid driver’s license from a foreign country.

Please read the following instructions completely before beginning your class:

  • Return to our Home page and fill out our registration form.
  • You may complete the online program at your own pace (all in one day or return as many times as you choose).
  • In this online classroom, there are four sessions that you must complete.
  • There will be a review at the end of each session. When you finish the review at the end of the fourth session, you will have finished the online classroom requirements.
  • This is a FREE online classroom. However, remember that in order to receive a certificate of completion, you must pass a short final exam, which can take 10-15 minutes. You must also pay $50 at one of our test areas. Bear in mind that a final exam is required whether you take an online or classroom program.

Driver Improvement Program (DIP)

This online classroom is free. Anyone may browse this site. To meet your MVA requirement and receive a Driver Improvement Program (DIP) completion certificate, you must complete the online sessions.

You will also have to take a short test, which takes about 15 minutes, and pay $50 (cash or money orders only) at a test area. A test is required whether you take an online program or a classroom program.

Please bring the following items to the test area:

  • Picture Identification - No Picture Identification, No Certificate. No Exceptions.
  • Your MVA Referral/Assignment Letter

  • If your schedule does not allow you to complete the final exam at a designated test area, do not take this online program.
  • Test areas will be posted and updated on a regular basis throughout this online program.
  • Websites and servers may have downtime due to heavy traffic and other unforeseen problems. On most Internet sites, when the downtime occurs, you may see “Page Unavailable.” This usually lasts for a short period of time only.
  • Downtime can be related to your computer or ISP provider. Contact your ISP provider directly if this is the case.
  • Students having difficulties using the Internet and those having problems that occur online may call for technical help from our help desk at 301-637-9402. Leave a message including your name, phone number, time, date, and question. A school representative will return your call as soon as possible.
  • If you wish to attend a classroom program, call us at 301-637-9402 to learn the schedules.
  • “Official completion” of this program means that you have finished all of the online sessions, taken your final test in person, paid your fee, and received your Certificate of Completion.
  • As a provider, we are required to transmit your completion information to the MVA within 24 hours of your official course completion. Your driving record will be updated depending on our transmission of your completion information.
